I have 2 different cables and several computers to try these on, so if you guys would like anyone on the outside to run some tests I'd be more than happy to do it.Īnd if you want me to try to get even more detailed I'll do what I can. On both I found I absolutely needed a 2.0 hub, since there is only 1 3.0 port on those and it basically would never work. Using a usb 2.0 hub generally got it working on a 3.0 port, or just plugging into a 2.0 port of course.Īnd I have a few MS surfaces, a 2 and a 3. I also had and older gaming laptop, and on that I basically couldn't get it to work on a 3.0 port at all. Move to the hub, on the fourth port on the hub it finally enumerated correctly, showing up as the rocksmith cable instead of a regular microphone and correctly being enabled as a device. The first time I played the game after building this rig, I plugged the cable into one of the front 3.0 ports. The case is a corsair 750d(so the front ports are from that). And a 7 port 3.0 hub from amazon basics plugged into a 3.0 port on the back. I have 2 3.0 ports on the front of my computer. One seems to work a little better than the other, but both are borderline random. I am however glad to see the team looking for more ways to improve the user experience. And since I don't bother to use USB 3.0 ports on my rig (I still have plenty of 2.0 ports) I don't really have any more useful insight for you.

If it was a drivers issue with my hardware, that is hardware I can update the drivers for - it wouldn't be intermittent, it just simply would not work ever.īut, since that isn't within the scope of your intended question, I'll just ask you to have it looked at later on. That's the exact same port, day after day, multiple times before it will start working correctly. I know I can plug the same cable in 3 or 4 times (only necessary because the game won't let me leave my 2nd cable plugged in when playing single player - but that's the topic of other posts) before it'll work correctly on any given day. I don't want to get into an argument on this one, but I can probably find you 20 threads from this year where users intermittently have issues with the "windows generic audio device driver" the real-tone cable uses. Win 10 seems to work fine once people get their personal hardware drivers updated. Looking forward to the new South Park RPG by the way. Of course if the cable is indeed considered DRM, then this doesn't apply. I'm not asking for official support of 3rd party hardware, but not hard-coding the game to a specific PID/VID for a USB device and just letting a user edit that in a config file isn't unreasonable.

I never thought of the real tone cable as physical DRM, given the cost, but am I wrong on that? Does your publisher consider the cable integral DRM? I think with a product like this the physical hardware becomes more and more difficult to locate and in consequence becomes more expensive. Users have tried modifying the VID/PID on USB devices and using them in Rocksmith with good success. I'm well aware that not all input devices may be up to the standard and some will produce crackling, or have increased latency, but technologically speaking this is a simple implementation.

I can provide additional comparison information and testing as requested as I am able to consistently reproduce detection with a 2.0 port, and non detection with a 3.0 portĭan, is there any possibility of allowing a user to specify the input device though a config file?
